Hi, just a quick post to share a couple of photos of two of our recent, more unusual, cakes with you!
We have been really busy lately with various projects such as planning our next workshop and full day-course and designing cakes for peoples occasions and weddings, plus we are busy planning which products we will be selling at the July Summer Fayre in Port Sunlight and testing new flavours. So it really is all go!
Below is a picture of a cake which I actually designed for my brothers birthday, it isn’t very often I get to really go to town on a design with a bottomless budget and as he is such a huge fan of the stars and astronomy the cake was themed around that!
The cake surface was mostly airbrushed because I wanted to create the ‘Galaxy’ effect so I used various colours including purple, blue, black, white and red!
The planets were made from various coloured fondants and glitters! Below is a picture which shows the planets more closely!
I was really pleased with the overall effect and my Brother was also very happy, he was reluctant to cut into the cake because he liked it so much but all his birthday visitors were pleased that he did! The cake was a Victoria sponge with a blend of strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrant conserve filling and vanilla buttercream with a layer of fresh sliced strawberries!
Below is another cake we produced recently. This was a Casino themed cake for a 10 year-old girl who had recently attended her Grandmothers casino-themed 70th birthday party and wanted something similar!
The cake was a vanilla and pecan sponge with maple buttercream and plain white fondant with coloured fondant playing card suit symbols. The playing cards and casino chips were made from edible pastillage both of which were brought to life with Rice paper prints. The numbers on the playing cards represented the birthday girls birth date and age, and the numbers on the dice also made 10 🙂
Hope you enjoyed looking at our cakes!
