Angels Cakes & Bakes Blog

Archive for the ‘Uncategorized’ Category

We’ve been so busy recently that I forgot we even had a blog…how bad is that? It’s been a funny old 6 months since we last blogged but the truth is there are just so many social media outlets these days it is truly hard to keep up, it’s a job in itself, on top of our ‘actual jobs’.

So what’s been happening? well other aspects of our daily lives seem to have been so busy and making cakes and running classes all take up our time. The baking-trend roller coaster does not seem to be losing momentum, indeed, there are still numerous new baking/cake decorating publications making there way onto the shop shelves and stores selling equipment, as well as actual cake shops,  still popping up everywhere. Literally, there are now ‘pop-up’ shops opening on the high streets and in malls. I think they are a great idea as they do not involve the expense and dedication required involved in opening a full-on commercial property and they can be moved to popular areas depending upon demand.

So what else is news? Well, we have just published the dates of our new cupcake decorating classes on the website which you can see here: http://www.angelscakesandbakes.co.uk/angels-cakes-and-bakes-workshops.html

We accept Paypal now too which is a bonus for people, so no fuss, just an easy-peasy payment and booking procedure! So if you haven’t been on one of workshops yet then book early to avoid disappointment we always have loads of fun and there is so much to learn!

ladies hearts and flowers 2013

Look at the ladies here with their prize cupcakes! 🙂

Well that’s all for now, I’m off to make fondant willy’s, oh the joys of my job,  Hope to see you soon! 🙂 xxx

Welcome to the new name for Angels Cupcakes- as our range has expanded, so has our name! It has been a while since I have has time to come on here & post a new blog entry, we have made endless cakes and had lots of classes but don’t just take our word for it check out our new website at http://www.angelscakesandbakes.co.uk and see for yourself! Soon we will be posting tutorials and maybe even try our hand at the odd YouTube video to teach some stuff & give an insight into some of our classes’ content. For now I will share a recent cake I made that I loved and did not want to part with, especially Teddy!

Well it’s been a while since the last blog post, but in that short space of time the world, well the UK at least, seems to have gone BAKING MAD! Everywhere you turn there is baking paraphernalia, whether it be books, baking tins or just about everything you can imagine with cupcakes printed on it!

On the TV every other programme is either a reality show or a cookery show of some description or another! We are getting more and more enquiries every day about our classes and I’ve noticed that many other classes are starting to pop up too around the UK!

It is great to see that so many people are trying their hand at home baking, I for one have always been a huge fan, and since I was very small, have enjoyed producing sweet treats to hand out to family and friends! With that in mind we have been very busy working on new products and goods and promoting both them and our classes! Our last class in fact was just the other Sunday and the cakes produced were some of the best yet!

You can see how much work has gone into these little Easter cuties! I just love teaching making these small fondant figures and kids really love eating them so all of our students go home happy and the children (or grown-ups) in their families enjoy savouring their hard work!

We have a range of classes scheduled for this year which can be viewed on our new website soon but in the meantime you  can contact us via our e-mail info@angelscupcakes.co.uk. We are based in Bebington, in the North of England and all ability ranges are catered for!

Last week we were lucky to have a nice sunny Sunday so the ladies sat out and ate lunch overlooking the fields at Claremont farm (where our classes are held).

So if you fancy joining all those people on the TV by trying out your caking skills why not join us on one of our classes and see how you fair! we always have fun and at the end of the day there is always Cake!

I am thoroughly ashamed that it has been over a month since my last blog-post, okay, okay so I always say something similar…’we’ve been really busy’, ‘up the wall’, ‘no time to turn-around’….its all true I swear!! Okay so whats been happening I hear you ask, well, now you come to mention it, we have been up the wall! Since the last blog-post which was a summary of our Secret Garden cupcake workshop we have also held a full-day intensive course; ‘Flower Power’, which concentrated on (obvious maybe) ‘Flowers’ and forming beautiful flowers for adorning cupcakes!

It was a great class and there were some beautiful creations like this one (bottom) which is a fine example of ‘less is more’

Occasionally students have a tendency to either over-load their cupcakes with decorations or run out of cupcakes and pile all the decorations they have made on to one cupcake!  But I think this is a great example of a simple but beautifully adorned cupcake made with florist paste and a silicone mould! (which are my new best friends).  Below are some other examples made by a student who, I am sure she wouldn’t mind me describing as a ‘tom-boy’, and whom produced some of the loveliest flowers I have seen for a while. I particularly like the pink one on the right hand-side!

So a successful day all round and I have since had lots of nice feedback from those who attended to say they really enjoyed their day! I am also glad to announce that we have a new venue for our courses, which will now be held at Claremont Farm on the Wirral in their professional kitchens! http://www.claremontfarm.co.uk/forthcomingevents.html check out this link to their website for upcoming events and more details of our courses!

Anyways, there is more news but I have to go, but I will share with you news of our latest event at Port Sunlight Village Fayre very soon! Thanks for reading our blog!

The Angels x

Well what can I say, our May cupcake decorating learning day was a huge success! The Ladies produced some real beauties and I was so impressed by their enthusiasm. The class got on really well together and at times the room was silent and filled with pure concentration & at other times laughter- which is nice!

Below is a picture of the ladies hard at work!

This was our first class of the year so we wanted to create some nice sunny designs and bright colours. One of the ladies used all pastel shades to produce her decorations and the results were beautiful!

We have already had tons of enquiries about our next courses so if you are interested in learning buttercream piping techniques and how to produce professional looking cupcakes just e-mail us, tweet us or check out our Facebook page!!

Check out our Flickr link at the side to look at more photos from our classes!

Just a quick blog post to share a picture or two of a novelty cake which was definitely a first for me!

Hope you like them as much a my client did!

The last time I used this display teacup was at the Christmas Fayre in December, and then it was full of cakepops! Whilst going through all my display stock recently I foolishly left it on the kitchen table only to be claimed by my lovely cat Sunnie!

Sunnie in a teacup!

He does have a habit of finding cute places to sleep, he even tried to curl up in this and go to sleep but he eventually gave up.

Luckily I only use this display item for wrapped goods and will definitely be giving it a good clean before I do! Pretty sure nobody wants cat hairs in our lovely baked goods!
