Hi all,

its been a while but as usual it’s been busy here at Angels Cupcakes HQ. Anyways it is just a short blog post today to share some photographs of a recent wedding which we particularly enjoyed catering for. The colour scheme was Ivory and gold and we baked and decorated 2 different types of cupcakes. We made 4 dozen fondant topped vanilla sponge cupcakes in gold cases (below),

and 5 dozen vanilla buttercream topped sponge cupcakes in plain cream coloured cases (below).

We also made a wedding cake topper for the summit of the cupcake stand to really set off the design. A close-up is pictured below:

All of the cakes were topped with hand-made sugar flowers, around 400 in total and a total of around 500 edible pearls so it was quite a tall order but we enjoyed every bit of it!

We thought we would share these photos with you and if you would like to see the finished product please visit http://www.angelscupcakes.co.uk and look at the wedding tab under the gallery category! thanks for looking! P.S we still have a couple of places left on our cupcake decorating course on May 8th, for more info contact us at info@angelscupcakes.co.uk!

Happy New Year all!

Ok, so It’s been a bit quiet on the blogging front but I assure you it’s due to illness and not laziness. The dreaded lurgy got a hold of me over the Xmas period and wiped me out. It’s as if the flu waited for me to finish the last of the years cake orders and then took a hold! In fact I was feeling pretty rough a few days before Xmas so the last orders on Xmas eve took their toll on me along with the heat from the ovens in the kitchen! But hey-ho, I am on the mend flu is all but gone, only a lingering pesky cough remains! I have a lot to thank night nurse for!

The orders have been coming in steadily for the new year, which is good. Lots of enquiries and a few deposits already paid for large orders this month. The Christmas cakes went down well particularly the carrot cakes with Xmas decorations!

Triple chocolate cupcakes were also popular over Xmas…

…and triple chocolate in giant form!!

The client was very happy with this triple chocolate cupcake, complete with mini smaties decoration, for her sons 21st birthday on Christmas Day!

Other news: I have just ordered a nice big 7-tiered cupcake stand from Wedding Acrylics in Cardiff to prepare for a few big orders coming up plus a photo shoot in a local magazine for their Valentines edition! All very exciting…keep you posted!

If you are looking for cupcake stands incidentally, you should definitely check out Wedding Acrylics website, their range is fantastic www.weddingacrylics.co.uk

Ooh its been a busy couple of weeks. I have been happily baking toffee apple cupcakes which are delicious and very moreish and collecting ideas for an up-and-coming Twilight themed cupcake order. I have all the ingredients and I am poised and ready to make cupcake werewolves this weekend. The ‘Hello Cupcake’ book by Karen Tack and Alan Richardson is perfect for ideas if you need to create any unusual cupcakes as they have it all covered!!

I have a couple of wedding orders for next year that I have to plan for also (best to prepare early for these events) as Xmas will soon be upon us and then it WILL be ‘next year’ before we know it. I also have lots of birthday orders for November and December, which are mostly creative designs so I am in my element. I discovered that using the Betty Crocker ready-made buttercream is perfect for practicing with when trying new creations. It saves so much time and although I would always make my own buttercream for orders, there are always plenty of takers for free cupcakes with loads of chocolate goo on top!

I have been busy practising my rose designs with buttercream. I love the two-tone effect as they look so pretty. Below is a mixed box I made for a friend’s birthday this week.

The two-tone effect is created by working a second colour of buttercream up the sides of the piping back before adding the other colour. see below:
